People could be forced to wait more than six weeks to find out whether their benefits will be cut in April, the Mirror understands.
It comes as Rishi Sunak is facing a growing Tory revolt over plans to axe the weekly £20 increase in Universal Credit. A government source said the Chancellor would wait until the Budget on March 3 to set out all coronavirus support, including the decision on the £20-a-week boost to Universal Credit.
In a sign the Chancellor could press ahead with the cut, the source pointed to Boris Johnson's comments to MPs this week, where he said: "“Most people in this country would rather see a focus on jobs and growth in wages than focusing on welfare but clearly, we have to keep all these things under review."
