Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Graham Alexander sees no reason Motherwell can't upset the apple cart against Rangers on Sunday. But he knows his team will need to be at their best - even if Steven Gerrard 's defending champions aren't quite firing themselves.
Motherwell have drawn their last two games against the Ibrox side and took points from them in Glasgow earlier this season.Rangers will travel to Fir Park this weekend to kick off the second round of Premiership fixtures and might fancy their chances against a side who have taken one point from their last four games.
But Alexander is yet to taste defeat against Gers since taking the Motherwell post and he's quietly confident that record gives them a chance against the champions on Saturday.Get all the latest
