Tony Clubb denied the accusation of racially abusing Hull FC forward Andre Savelio in his tribunal hearing. The Wigan Warriors forward was been handed a Grade F charge for 'unacceptable language based on national or ethnic origin', which has resulted in an eight-match ban.
However, the judge said they did not consider Clubb to be racist after character references. Though Clubb admitted to using the words Savelio accused him of using, the structural way in which they were used were disputed by the forward.
Savelio had accused Clubb of calling him a 'stupid Polynesian ----'. However, the RFL has released the details of the hearing in which Clubb gave his account of how the conversation went.
