It didn’t turn you into Cindy Crawford, but it imbued you with a consolatory confidence that made it well worth the purchase price.But being an iconic makeup brand beloved by supermodels, celebrities and aspirational teens wasn’t enough to save Revlon, the cosmetics company founded by Charles Revson in 1932 that has just filed for bankruptcy.
Years of declining sales, supply chain issues and debt - currently listed as $3.7 billion, according to court documents – has left the 90 year-old company on its knees.
Shares in Revlon have halved in response to the news.On social media, customers’ response has been mixed. Loyal ones proclaimed that the quality of its lipsticks is still second to none.
