The golfing legend is undergoing emergency surgery after his car swerved off a road and rolled down a steep hillside, with rescue crews pulling him from the wreckage.
Woods was taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Centre by ambulance and aerial images from the scene showed his SUV lying about 30 yards away from the road on its side.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department described the accident as a "single vehicle roll-over traffic collision” in Ranchos Palos Verdes, California.
