A three-week-old baby is battling for life in intensive care after being struck down with coronavirus. The newborn - understood to be from Belfast, Northern Ireland - is receiving around-the-clock care after contracting the deadly bug.

The heartbreaking news was announced on the BBC's Nolan Show. It comes after a high number of children were admitted to hospital in Northern Ireland after falling ill.

Latest figures from the Office for National Statistics shows the virus is now more than five times more common among those aged 16 to 24 than it is among those aged 50 to 69.

Introducing his show, host Stephen Nolan opened with: "A three-week-old baby is in intensive care in Northern Ireland with Covid".
