Daily Star Sport takes a look at what the Three Lions boss got right and wrong on the night. What Southgate got wrong... The Three Lions were uncharacteristically sluggish in their Nations League opener on Saturday, and saw their nine-match unbeaten run come to an end against Hungary.

Southgate will have been looking for an immediate reaction, but the visitors struggled to come to grips with the press from Germany.England's defenders and Jordan Pickford were not given a moment to breathe in possession, with Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala among those to lead the charge.

More often than not in the opening stages, the visitors were forced to send the ball long which led to Germany enjoying the best of the early exchanges. It did not result in a goal, with neither side breaking the deadlock ahead of the interval.
