THIS Morning viewers were up in arms today as the show promoted a series of expensive adult advent calendars. Consumer presenter Steve Wilson talked hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield through a selection of calendars from a reasonable £8 to an eyebrow-raising £95.

His haul included a Fever Tree Gin & Tonic calendar for £54, Bird & Blend's Tea calendar for £38, Nespresso's Original calendar for £41, M&S's 24 Biscuits 'til Christmas calendar for £8, Gardening Gifts for £29.99 at Amazon, and John Lewis's Tealights option for £25.

The final option was the most pleasurable of all, if you have deep pockets. Steve said: "We are doing adult advent calendars and this is no exception.

In my 16 years on the show, this is probably, no pun intended, the hardest thing I'm going to have to try and explain to you." Holly said coyly: "Steven Wilson."
