This is why you might recognise Connell from Normal People

Normal People is kicking off on RTÉ One this week, but some lucky viewers have been able to binge it on BBC iPlayer. Sally Rooney’s bestseller has been made into a 12 part mini-series which has received praise around the world.

But as we watched the incredible series, we couldn’t stop wondering one thing! The character is played by newcomer Paul Mescel but we couldn’t help but wonder where had we seen him before.

While he has made a name for himself on the stage, Normal People is his breakout role with the series being his first TV gig… Or so we thought.
