The Weeknd has dubbed the Grammys 'corrupt' and maintained that he would no longer be submitting any of his music in consideration of an award.
The 31-year-old musician, whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, admitted that a trust had been 'broken' and he remained 'uninterested' in being involved with the awards.
His remarks came shortly after the Recording Academy announced it would be getting rid of its 'secret' nominating committees, particularly after The Weeknd was snubbed from the 2021 awards despite having one of his most successful years in the music industry.
Despite vows to change the nomination system, The Weeknd appeared to hint that it was too little too late, and he had no interest in participating in the awards ceremony.
