A disgraced police officer sent vile racist and sexist messages to non police contacts, it has been revealed. Declan Middleton, 33, was found guilty of misconduct in a public office last month.

Middleton had begun a sexual relationship with a victim of domestic abuse while working as a police constable with West Yorkshire Police.

The 33-year-old had joined the force in 2019, and began the affair in 2020 when he had been working in safeguarding. The former officer also sent 'inappropriate' messages to two other women that he met in his capacity as a police officer.
