An analysis by the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) found the Manchester M8 postcode, which includes Cheetham Hill and Crumpsall, and the Oldham postcode of OL8, to be hotspots for the scam.
A number of postcodes in Birmingham made it to the top of the list, with areas in Bradford, Blackburn, Romford, Wakefield, Leeds, High Wycombe, London and Luton also among the worst areas affected, the IFB said.
