Details have emerged surrounding Ed Woodward's decision to resign from his position as executive vice-chairman of Manchester United.
It was announced on Tuesday that the 49-year-old will leave the club at the end of the season following nearly ten years working in the role.
And it came as United performed an embarrassing u-turn on the European Super League, with the Red Devils walking away from the competition just 48 hours after they had initially stated they would be participating in it.
According to The Athletic, Woodward rang United's owner Joel Glazer on Monday to explain that he could no longer support the idea of the league following the huge backlash it received from around the world.
