With sustainability and reducing the plastic in our everyday lives becoming more and more important, a cleaning guru has shared the 'correct' way to clean your reusable water bottle.

Leslie Reichert has revealed that the bottles can become breeding grounds for harmful bacteria and showed how to take care of them in the right way.She explained that if your water starts to smell a little different or doesn't taste as fresh, then it's time to change your habits and start washing the bottle much more frequently.Adding that germs, mould, and mildew thrive in moist and dark places, Leslie said the inside of a water bottle can be the perfect place for them to thrive, so they need to be washed after every single use.Her tips are quick and simple, so you can start working them into your daily routine right away - and it's probably a good idea to do so.

Speaking to Apartment Therapy, Leslie said: "Germs will grow on your reusable water bottles after each and every use. Combined with the fact that mould and mildew thrive in moist, dark areas—let’s just say this is not a container you would want to drink anything out of." She said that with a screw-top bottle, it is important to separate the two pieces and run both of them through the dishwasher - provided it is safe for your type to do so.She said with more complicated tops, you have to get a bottle brush to scrub the bottom of the bottle and a smaller one to clean the lid. Then she said that from time to time you should use fizzy cleaning tablets, dropping the bottle into the water with the tablet and letting it sit overnight.Meanwhile, your oven also needs regular cleaning and it's the household chore task that we all love to hate - shortly followed by ironing.Scraping burnt food
