ITV writer Simon Sansome to revive the beloved TV show one more time.Now, UKTV is in its infancy of developing a new spin-off of the cop drama which could hit out screens as early as next year.
A TV insider has since revealed to The Sun that the fan-favourite show is ready to be rebooted and attract a new wave of fans to the show.
They told the publication: "In the minds of many producers and execs, The Bill is a drama which is just sitting, waiting to be rebooted. "It's a simple format but one which attracted a loyal army of followers who would be delighted to see it return. "No doubt any new incarnation would be tweaked to make it attract a whole new generation to the show." The Bill launched on ITV back in 1983 and produced its final show back in 2010 after it successfully aired 2,425 episodes and a whopping 26 series.
Their ITV show - which was set in the heart of the fictional town Sun Hill - quickly became the longest-running police drama in Britain.
