His death was confirmed by his son Eddie, who told Deadline his dad had died in hospital in Los Angeles on Saturday (May 7).The American actor, who's starred in a number of Hollywood blockbusters, was best known for his role as the Dude's landlord in the hit film The Big Lebowski.He set his career off in acting at the age of 24 by beginning to work in theater, and in 1982 began his tenure as a lifelong member of the Actors Studio.He also starred in a number of productions in a career which spanned four decades.The American star guested on a number of popular television series, including Hill Street Blues, Hunter, Cagney & Lacey, and LA Law.Jack also featured on the likes of ER, 24, NYPD Blue, Mad Men and Bones.He played the recurring role of Harlan Wyndam-Matson in Amazon Studios’ The Man From High Castle and was most recently seen on Love, Victor where he played the role of a landlord again.
Jack had dozens of big-screen roles including Invincible, Pineapple Express, Love Liza, Fever Pitch, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and Lethal Weapon 4.
Beyond screen acting, Jack also produced a live one-man show featuring himself.Fans have since taken to social media to lead with heartfelt tributes.
