ghost girl made from the faces of those who have succumbed to the disease.The new virtual human being was set live yesterday (June 15) and is set to haunt the South East Asian country for the foreseeable future as cases are set to spike over the warmer months.Named Ingma, the schoolgirl's looks have been designed based on the appearances of the 1.2 million people who have died from the condition in the last 15 years.In the short public health video, the ghost girl glowers at the camera and delivers a chilling warning of the dangers of the mosquito-borne disease.She says: "I am here to tell you, viewers, that dengue fever is closer and scarier than you think.” This year alone, the Department of Disease Control says there have been 2,549 confirmed cases of the illness with three deaths.

Coconuts reports that although cases have lessened in recent years, top disease official Opas Karnkawinpong warned that new outbreaks of the fever will spike this summer.Encouragingly though between 2019 and 2020 cases dropped from 117,000 to 68,000 and deaths dropped from 129 to 49.According to the NHS, the infection is usually mild and passes after about 1 week without causing any lasting problems.
