Tesco is facing growing pressure to limit sales of junk food as the government cracks down on rising obesity levels in the UK.
Investors are trying to pressure the grocer into restricting foods with high sugar content, amid growing evidence the UK's obesity problem has worsened during the Covid-19 crisis.
Obesity has now emerged as one of the biggest risk factors for acute cases of the virus, with severely obese people three times more likely to be admitted to intensive care.
ShareAction, which is leading the campaign, said raised concerns about how big retailers are impacting public health. Tesco is the UK's biggest grocery retailer, with market share of just under 27%.
