Emma Raducanu's preparations for the Italian Open took a taboo twist after the tennis prospect was caught swearing in front of television cameras.Rather than being any act out of character, however, Raducanu remains innocent following her attempt to speak Italian.

The 19-year-old is in Rome this week to make her first appearance at the Italian Open. There, she'll face Canadian Bianca Andreescu on Tuesday as she continues her first campaign on clay.

Raducanu has been hard at work as she prepares to make her bow at the French Open later this month, the only Grand Slam in which she's yet to compete.

Upon being asked if she knows any Italian, the youngster replied: "Err... I did... like, que cazzo?" The term translates loosely to 'What the f***' in English, and Raducanu looked sheepish after her SuperTennis TV host gasped in response. She then raised a hand to her mouth as she asked: "Is that a bad word?" Her interviewer laughed as she replied: "A little bit." Raducanu insisted it was a friend who had taught her the word before enquiring as to what it meant. "I'll tell you later. . .at the end of the interview," came the response.
