I never make mash on Christmas Day – it’s all about the roasties in this house – so a plate of buttery mash is a lovely comforting dish to have on Christmas Eve. The parsnips make this slightly sweet, which works well against the venison dish I serve it with.I’m not keen on gadgets but last year Nigella Lawson recommended the Masha Electric Potato Masher and it’s brilliant.
