Anastasia Coope’s apartment is hard to find. In a city where most every building is sequentially numbered, street-facing, and explorable from one’s personal device, the Brooklyn collective/co-op where the 21-year-old experimental folk artist lives is a rare exception.

Twenty-five years ago, Ghostly International was born inside a University of Michigan dorm room. Sam Valenti IV was a 19-year-old art history major studying Jackson Pollock by day and DJing warehouses by night; in between, he pressed records and drove around the city to different record stores, selling them copies from the back of his car.

The 46th annual BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival takes over the NYC borough's Prospect Park this summer, and today the lineup has been announced. From June 8-August 24, acts like Meshell Ndegeocello, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul, Sinkane, The Halluci Nation, Black Belt Eagle Scout, and many more will perform free shows at the Lena Horne Bandshell.

Ninja Tune CEO Adrian Kemp has stepped away from his role pending an internal investigation into allegations against him.The London-based independent record label, founded by Matt Black and Jonathan More, is currently home to acts such as Young Fathers, Black Country, New Road, Kae Tempest and Bonobo.In a statement sent to staff (via Resident Advisor), Ninja Tune confirmed that Kemp would be taking a “step back” while an “independent third-party HR” company investigated the claims.He’ll temporarily depart the CEO role to not “prejudice this investigation in any way”, a letter from his solicitors read (via Mixmag).The details of the allegations are not known currently, but the document stated that Kemp “vehemently denies” the claims.Samantha Sissons, Ninja Tune’s Head Of Marketing, will step up to his role alongside the label’s Head Of Marketing Operations, Tess Kendall.“The outcome of the investigation will be made available upon completion subject to any legal barriers,” according to the statement to staff. “Adrian will continue to work in support of Sam and Tess but with a lower profile.”Kemp has worked at Ninja Tune for over 20 years and became CEO in 2017, per Companies House.Founded in 1990, Ninja Tune is one of dance music’s most successful independent labels.

Black Emperor have debuted three brand new tracks while kicking off their 2024 world tour.The group kicked off their massive 2024 tour on Saturday, February 26 at the Knockdown Center in Queens, New York. Pianist and composer Kelly Moran has confirmed details of Moves in the Field, her first album in six years. André 3000 has announced his first tour behind his 2023 flute album New Blue Sun. Like the record, the shows are scheduled for just a few days after their announcement, kicking off at Brooklyn, New York’s Crown Hill Theatre on Monday, January 29.

André 3000 has broken a new record by now scoring the longest-ever song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.Following the release of his new flute music album ‘New Blue Sun’, the record’s opening track ‘I Swear, I Really Wanted to Make a “Rap” Album but This Is Literally the Way the Wind Blew Me This Time’ entered the Billboard Hot 100 at 90. The track clocks in at 12 minutes and 20 seconds, making it the longest-ever song to enter the charts.The title was previously held by Tool, who released the 10 minute and 21 seconds cut ‘Fear Inoculum’ in August 2019 – that track debuted on the Hot 100 charts at number 93.
