Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, the heirs to the UK throne, will attend the upcoming BAFTA for the first time in three years, Kensington Palace has announced. William, who has been the president of BAFTA since 2010, and Kate will watch the ceremony being held at the Royal Festival Hall on 19 February before meeting the winners and Rising Star Award nominees.The royal couple last attended the event in person in 2020 with the prince last year recording a video message in his place, in which he congratulated those nominated and praised the work of BAFTAs programmes.

Daryl McCormack, 29, was announced as one of the five nominees for the 2023 EE Rising Star BAFTA Award, and opened up about his work in the film Good Luck to You, Leo Grande in front of Express.co.uk and other reporters today.The young actor gushed about his romantic co-lead Emma Thompson, 63, and described how he had “left a piece of his soul behind” on set after filming with her.The quirky film, which premiered at Sundance Film Festival this time last year, sees widowed school teacher Nancy Stokes (Emma) hire male prostitute Leo Grande (Daryl) in the hopes of having an orgasm for the very first time.Speaking about the relationship he formed with Emma, Daryl explained how honoured he felt to have the “opportunity to work so close with her” so early on in his career.The Peaky Blinders actor said: “The whole experience just felt really, really personal and it felt really small.“We spent three weeks in Norwich making this film and it felt like we left part of our souls behind. “We just really grew to love each other and so, for it to be really contained in one room, and then to have such a lovely response from people - it just feels really great.” Asked about whether he and Emma spent time working out the dynamics of their relationship before shooting the movie, the star spoke about how they approached filming together.

Gogglebox star Jenny Newby paid tribute to her TV co-star Lee Riley after she missed a large part of the last series due to an unconfirmed medical condition. During her time away from the show, the rest of the cast of the Channel 4 series scored a BAFTA back in May in the Best Reality and Constructive Factual. After having to miss the awards show due to surgery, Jenny had now paid tribute to her friend Lee and their BAFTA win with a sweet video shared from her garden via the pair’s joint Instagram account.

BAFTA-nominated actress Emilia Jones, 19, is the daughter of Welsh singer Aled Jones, 51, and his wife Claire Fossett. Her father Aled explained earlier this year that he and his wife had made a lot of sacrifices for Emilia, but that she rarely “listened to his advice”.Aled’s career was launched after he sang The Snowman’s iconic song Walking in the Air.After that, he enjoyed a varied career of singing and presenting for the BBC. Emilia, 20, has followed in her father’s footsteps and recently appeared in the film CODA, which won the Oscars’ Best Picture award.Her role in the film, which earned her a BAFTA nomination, made her an overnight star.  Back in February, Aled appeared on Good Morning Britain, where he gushed about his talented daughter. "It's been great for me just watching from the background.

Noel Clarke has spoken out about the sexual misconduct claims made against him last year, saying at his worst they left him “suicidal”.The actor and director, 46, was accused by 20 women of groping, harassment and bullying in an article published by The Guardian in April of last year. He strongly denies the claims. Now speaking out on how the accusations have affected him for the first time, the star says at his worst he considered taking his own life.The actor, who lives in London with his wife Iris and their four children, claims that he “lost everything” following the allegations: “The company I built from the ground up, my TV shows, my movies, my book deals, the industry respect I had.

Jodie Comer had the night of her life on Sunday as she took home the Leading Actress gong at the BAFTA TV Awards in London.The 29-year-old actress beat the likes of Mare of Easttown star Kate Winslet and It’s a Sin’s Lydia West to win for her role in the Channel 4 Covid-set drama Help. Speaking to reporters ahead of accepting her award, the actress had admitted she was "very nervous" about the possibility of taking to the stage to receive a BAFTA. In her acceptance speech, Jodie paid tribute to Channel 4 for "believing in the script from the very beginning" before going onto thank the carers who helped those involved in the show with their research, saying they were "incredibly gracious" with their time.

The Earthshot Prize was awarded the BAFTA Television Award for Live Event at the 2022 ceremony, beating The Brit Awards 2021 and The Royal Legion Festival of Remembrance. The prize was launched back in 2020 by the Duke of Cambridge and Sir David Attenborough, in order to reward and celebrate initiatives which aim to help the environment.

It's A Sin star Olly Alexander was showcasing a very different look as he walked the red carpet at the BAFTAs on Sunday.The actor, 31, played the role of Ritchie Tozer on the acclaimed Channel 4 drama, which followed the lives of a group of friends during the AIDs crisis in the 1980s. Usually sporting a short red haircut and dark brows, Olly surprised the red carpet when he arrived with bleached brows and a short hairstyle with shaved stripes into it.The star also wowed with his outfit, wearing a long black cape dress along with fitted black trousers and a pair of chunky platform boots.

Fans of Channel 4’s It’s A Sin have been left furious as the the show failed to win a single award at Sunday’s BAFTA TV Awards, despite it picking up 11 nominations. The show follows the lives of a group of friends during the 1980s and early '90s HIV and AIDs crisis, with leading actor — Olly Alexander nominated for his role as Ritchie Tozer and leading actress — Lydia West nominated for her role as Jill Baxter. Omari Douglas, Callum Scott Howells and David Carlyle were also up for best supporting actor.

Emotions were high, though, as the awards show paid tribute to TV stars that have passed away in the last year, including Jamal Edwards, Tom Parker and Sarah Harding. SBTV founder Jamal passed away aged 31 in February from a sudden heart attack.

Coronation Street won the Best Soap & Continuing Drama gong at the 2022 BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday 8 May.The ITV soap went up against Casualty, Emmerdale and Holby City in the coveted category. Corrie stars Sally Dynevor and Charlie de Melo, who play Sally Metcalfe and Imran Habeeb on the ITV soap, took to the stage to accept the gong. During the winner's speech, Sally paid tribute to campaigner Sylvia Lancaster following her passing last month.

Show watchers took to social media after the sound appeared to cut out several times during nomination clips, with it being unclear whether it was a technical issue or a deliberate sound cut due to swearing or pre-watershed content.

Rochelle Humes was praised by BAFTA TV Awards viewers on Sunday 8 May for her sweet gesture to Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice as they won Virgin Media's Must-See Moment. EastEnders star Rose, 27, who was the first deaf contestant to take part in Strictly, and pro partner Giovanni, 31, won the 2021 series of Strictly Come Dancing in December. The duo left viewers sobbing on Strictly when they performed a stunning Couple's Choice dance to Clean Bandit's Symphony, where they included a "special" silent moment in their dance to celebrate the deaf community.
