As Britain basks in some of the hottest spring weather for years, keen swimmers are frustrated that the nations’ public swimming pools have been closed under coronavirus lockdown rules.
But that is about to change. Officials from Swim England have been drawing up radical guidelines on how pools can reopen safely, and are set to make them public on June 15.
Swim England’s chief executive, Jane Nickerson, told the Sunday Times : “In the early days, it may be that you are encouraged not to use the changing rooms.” Instead, she suggests, people will need to turn up – and even travel home – in their swimming costumes. “What we’re suggesting is going beach-ready,” she said.
