The 70-year-old, who owns Chadderton-based Manchester Cabins, became the oldest person to row unassisted across the Atlantic Ocean in February - after nearly two months at sea.
His 3,000-mile challenge raised more than £1m for Alzheimers Research UK - a charity even closer to his heart after losing his brother-in-law to the disease whilst he was out at sea.
Now, the grandfather-of-three - who has survived prostate cancer - has been given a Pride of Manchester award in recognition of his incredible feat.
