Sunisa Lee – who goes by Suni - has won the gold medal in the Olympic women’s all-around gymnastics final on Thursday (July 29) in Tokyo, Japan!
The 18-year-old athlete became the fifth straight American female gymnast to win gold in the Olympics in this competition. Suni scored a 57.433, beating Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade, who scored 57.298, and Russian Olympic committee’s Angelina Melnikova, who scored 57.199. Rebeca earned the silver and Angelina the bronze.
Earlier in the week, Suni, Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles and Grace McCallum all won the silver medal for the team final. Simone was originally supposed to compete in the all-around today, but she withdrew.
