Student, 21, stabbed to death on night out never knew he was set to be a dad

The girlfriend of a student stabbed to death by a teen on a night out in Kent was due to tell him the next morning he was going to be a dad, it has emerged.

Andre Bent, 21, died after Vasilios Ofogeli, 17, stabbed him in the chest with a nine-inch machete following the MoStack event last summer.

Andre’s uncle Stephen McIntosh said after the court case: "She was pregnant and he never knew. Maria was going to break the news on the morning he died." The child, a girl, is due in April.

Mr McIntosh added: "He went with his friends to celebrate a simple birthday and just never came home." The uncle said that Andre had his “bags packed” to start university when he was stabbed near the Gallery Nightclub in Maidstone, Kent, on August 25 last year.
