In terms of food bills, Tracey has been living on sandwiches and only buys the cheapest products available in supermarkets.Many other families are currently facing a similar struggle across the UK, with households expected to fork out an extra £700 on energy bills over the next year.The father of two, 20 and 26, said: “I try to keep out the house as much as I can.
I go to my partner’s house or I go out for walks and stuff. I tend not to use the lights if I can help it, I walk around the house in the dark."Don’t have any heating on as I can’t afford it and I don’t have a boiler or anything.
If I want hot water, I just boil the kettle.“During the day, I have sandwiches. I always buy the cheapest food I can get, the supermarket stuff and the cheap brands.”Tracey receives Jobseeker’s Allowance and signs on at the job centre.
