Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips admitted when she was fired from the show she "kicked, screamed and sobbed".The 79-year-old first joined the BBC dance show in 2004 as part of the panel alongside Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli. However, in 2009 she was dropped from the show and replaced by Alesha Dixon, who is 35 years her junior.Speaking to The Mirror, she revealed that she still doesn't know the reason behind the decision to drop her from the show.Arlene was sacked from Strictly when she was 64 after rumours started to emerge that the BBC thought she was "too old".Speaking about when she found out, she said: "I gave myself 48 hours to kick, scream, cry and sob, and eat scones with cream and jam, then I made myself wake up and get on with it."However, now she's had time to reflect and think on the broadcaster's decision to let her go, she admitted to not asking the right questions. She continued: "I was very fragile because I had a bereavement the day before [her manager died].

I wanted to know in detail and I wanted to know the real reason at the point when they decided for me to go, yet they kept me hanging on for so long with the possibility that there would be five judges."Although she didn't return to the show, that hasn't stopped Arlene from appearing in many other successful shows over the years as she's been flying the flag for older women. We've seen the 79-year-old appear on I'm A Celebrity in 2021 along with guest-starring as a judge on ITV's Dancing On Ice with Oti Mabuse who she's currently working with.At the moment, the duo are proving to be a formidable force as they're both working on The Cher Show.Speaking about working with the former Strictly dancer, Arlene said: "It’s so.
