Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night to watch the couples compete in front of the judges for the first time, according to overnight ratings.
The BBC One celebrity dancing competition saw a peak audience of 8. 4 million, with a 47. 9 per cent audience share. The figures suggest a decline from last year’s series opener, which achieved an audience share of 42.
2 per cent and a peak audience of nine million viewers including catch-up viewers. However, ratings were up from last week’s launch show, which saw only 7 million tune in to watch the celebrities and professional dancers be paired up – a 12-year low for the series.
