well, that's because they are allowed to take photos and receive messages from the producers - but everything else is off limits.The Islanders have no contact with the outside world from the moment they land in Spain, get locked down in a hotel and enter the villa.They are completely detached from social media, with their friends and family running their accounts until they get their phones back when they leave.It was previously reported by The Mirror that each Islander in the 2019 series got paid £250 a week to cover any rent or bills back home.

This meant that if an Islander stayed in the villa from day one until the end, they'd get a cheque for a whopping £2,000 - plus all the exposure that comes.
