Stockport Country striker scores in fairytale first game back after cancer battle

Stockport County's Connor Jennings had a perfect return to the pitch this week, nine months after being forced out of football by a cancer diagnosis.

The striker was diagnosed with a low-grade chondroid sarcoma back in March this year. The rare form of cancer was identified after an MRI scan located a tumour within his upper arm. READ MORE:Metrolink driver assaulted at Rochdale tram stop in latest violent incident on the network.

Since then the 30-year-old has been receiving treatment and has worked his way back to full fitness, The Mirror reports. On Tuesday night Jennings made his first appearance for the National League side since February.
