Manchester United. The former England and Middlesbrough boss is set to return to the Premier League as one of Erik ten Hag's assistant coaches ahead of the upcoming season.
The duo have meshed well previously, with Ten Hag assisting McClaren during his brief stint in Holland with FC Twente back in the 2008/09 campaign.With McClaren believed to be on the verge of a spectacular return to the Premier League, Daily Star Sport has taken a look back at some of the 61-year-old's most iconic moments.McClaren was handed the opportunity of a lifetime by the FA when he was given the England job back in 2006 - but his dream job quickly descended into a nightmare.After serving as Sven-Goran Eriksson's assistant for four years, McClaren was the obvious choice after 'Big' Phil Scolari snubbed the role.
But McClaren lasted just 16 months in the role after failing to qualify for Euro 2008. The Three Lions were in a qualifying group with Croatia, Russia, Israel, Macedonia, Estonia and Andorra - but they somehow managed to mess it up.Unfortunately for McClaren, things came to a head on a miserable night at Wembley.
England were beaten 3-2 by Croatia in a crunch decider played out in torrential conditions. All McClaren could do was watch on from the sidelines, bleakly, with a massive umbrella; earning him the nickname of 'Wally with a Brolly'.
