Jason Manford has confirmed ITV's new programme Starstruck doesn't aim to find the next big thing and contestants will go "back to Tesco" once everything is over.Speaking candidly to Daily Star and associated press, the Masked Singer star who is part of the celebrity judging panel on the talent show explained that the performers will not be "touring" or gaining a "record deal" off the back of it.Jason, 40, appeared in an open table discussion alongside fellow judge Beverley Knight who also confirmed Starstruck's format is dissimilar to Pop Idol and The X Factor. When asked whether the programme stood a chance in competing against Simon Cowell's previous productions, Jason made clear that there was a distinctive disparity with the shows. He said: "That's the great thing about the show, it's not about that."There will be no number ones, there will be nobody touring off the back off it, no ones got a record deal off the back of it."It's literally coming on pretending to be Cher, off your pop back to Tesco.

That's the beauty of it you know.He added: "And you'll be the talk of the town for however long and you know you might get a few bookings at your local pub or wedding or whatever and you'd say 'as appeared on Starstruck' but it's not that sort of show."Beverley agreed with his sentiment and chimed: "It's not kind of 'oh my life depends on this'.

It's not that kind of a show at all. "It's just regular people having the time of their lives in front of the entire nation dressed up, singing like and sounding like their favourite musical icon."So there is no pressure involved in that which I've loved."She added: "And if someone comes along who happens to be absolutely brilliant and knocks it out the park and something else goes.
