holiday hotspots.The EU is introducing a new visa-waiver for visitors from non-EU countries, which means tourists will need to pay an extra €7 (£5.92) before they can enter the country.
The European travel information and authorisation system (ETIAS) will apply to non-EU citizens from around 60 countries that have visa-free travel within the EU, including the UK.READ MORE: Italy travel rules for Brits including passport requirements and bikini bans The good news is that there's a bit more time before the rules come into force, as the ETIAS has been delayed until late 2023.
Originally planned for a 2022 launch, it's already been delayed once, and now is scheduled to open from November 2023. That means that for most Brits, you're unlikely to face the charge until 2024 unless you're heading to Europe for a winter break.
The new charge will apply to anyone aged from 18 to 70 and each application will last for three years. For the majority of cases, it's expected that the approval process will take just a few minutes.
