weather forecaster WXcharts show a hugely disruptive weather formation barrelling towards the British Isles. Weather maps for Wednesday 2 February show a band of heavy rain of up to 10mm per hour falling across parts of northern Scotland, followed by another of similar severity on Saturday 5 February.Snow will also land up and down the UK that weekend, including some areas in England.Jim Dale, a senior meteorologist at British Weather Services, issued a sobering message when he told Express.co.uk yesterday that "winter is not over" and warned the country that "coldest parts of the year" would still be ahead. He said: "As we get towards the end of the month - the coldest on average parts of the year - what we're seeing is the high pressure pulling away south and west, allowing a north-easterly air stream to come in."That may well start to bring some snow events towards the latter stages of the month""So how far that actually comes in, and whether or not we get a proper plunge, depends on a little battle going on - does it end up in Denmark, Germany or does the thrust come across and affect the eastern parts of the UK and down to the London area."Meanwhile, the Met Office is expecting a cold start to Friday for England and Wales after last night's low temperatures, with mostly clear weather and some cloud gradually drifting towards the south east.Light rain is also expected in the north west. For the latest breaking news and stories from across the globe from the Daily Star, sign up for our newsletter by clicking here..
