Snooker legend Willie Thorne has been placed in an induced coma after suffering respiratory failure. The 66-year-old has been battling against leukaemia since March, and his condition worsened over the weekend as he now fights against three infections.
Thorne was admitted to hospital last week following a drop in his blood pressure to dangerously low levels, reports The Sun.
Since then he has been in intensive care, but medical staff were forced to place him in the coma on Sunday. He is now being given three separate types of antibiotics while remaining constantly hooked up to a ventilator.
It is the latest scare for Thorne, who underwent three blood transfusions in March after his initial diagnosis, as well as treatment for a virus.
