Michael B. Jordan plays twin brothers Smoke and Stack, who return to their hometown — only to be faced with an evil force. Hailee Steinfeld, newcomer Miles Caton and Jack O’Connell co-star in the period film set in the Jim Crow-era 1930s south.

Critics and others who saw advance screenings of the new film from the “Black Panther” director are praising the film for being smart, sexy and spooky.
