Ireland goalkeeping hero Shay Given has lifted the lid on leaving the club behind as a teenager after a "horrendous" contract offer.
The keeper was preparing to turn pro after two years at Parkhead and the boss at the time, Lou Macari, was keen to keep the young shot-stopper.
But Given and his father felt appalled at the meagre pay rise he'd bank before he would go on to become a successful name in the English game – turning out for Newcastle United, Manchester City and Aston Villa, among others.
He even claimed pros would get more playing back home in the League of Ireland and despite attempts to bring him back to the table from Celtic, there was no chance.
