The prime minister held a press conference on the government's response to coronavirus this afternoon, alongside chief medical officer for England Professor Christ Whitty and chief scientific adviser Sit Patrick Vallance.
The changes coming into force next week mean people will be able to hug loved ones, dine in restaurants, head to the cinema, have sleepovers and even take a trip abroad.
The move to the next stage of the road map comes after the alert level in the UK was downgraded to level three thanks to the success of the vaccination programme and social distancing restrictions.
