Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham has said that ‘sensible steps now’ will prevent the country from ‘getting back to a space where lockdowns are even considered’.
The mayor has called for face coverings in enclosed spaces, particularly public transport - but says it is ‘hard to see how anything stronger could be justified’.
