Searches for ‘super skincare’ ingredient alpha arbutin grew by 410 per cent but can it really fade hyperpigmentation?

Despite the wealth of remarkable formulas already in the world of skincare, every year there are more buzzy ingredients that pique our interest.

For 2021 the biggest one is set to be alpha arbutin. According to LookFantastic, the number of searches for it grew by an incredible 410% in 2020.

So what makes it such a hot topic? Alpha arbutin is extracted from the likes of blueberries and cranberries and is used to help to fade acne scarring, hyperpigmentation and uneven tone caused by UV rays.
