The search operation was launched at around 3.50pm yesterday (Monday) after police received reports that the 16-year-old may have fallen into the River Weaver near Frodsham, in Cheshire.
Cheshire Police, the fire service and paramedics were on the scene with a helicopter. They worked into the early hours of the morning to try and find the teenager, police said.
