Scottish Government confirms two deaths and 2,556 Covid cases in last 24 hours

Scottish Government 's figures reveal that two people have died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours. A total of 2,556 new cases have been identified overnight, brining the total number of positive cases since the pandemic started to 550,090.

The death toll since last March – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – now stands at 8,514.

There are currently 1,004 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with 78 being treated in intensive care.To date 4,176,832 people have received their first vaccination with 3,827,110 having a second jab.

The figures come as scientists revealed the one symptom that can help you tell the difference between coronavirus and a common cold.
