SPFL season. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon unveiled a new five-level pandemic response on Friday afternoon designed to streamline restrictions by local authority area instead of health board.

The tightest suppression measures under Tier 4 would place the nation under the strictest controls since March's full national lockdown.

A newly-released coronavirus framework states "outdoor non-contact sports" would be suspended at this stage. However, despite reports to the contrary, the Scottish Government has confirmed to that the professional game will be exempt at all tiers.

It's been claimed clubs in local authorities placed into Tier 4 would be unable to stage matches, even behind closed doors.But it's understood regulations that instruct.
