Scots school return dates as pupils prepare to head back to the classroom this month

schools across the country later this month after a much-deserved break comes to a conclusion. Schools broke up for the summer holidays after months and months of stop-start education amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Staff, children and young people alike have savoured every moment on the holiday period - and the weather has been firmly on their side.

But classrooms will fill up once again as schools prepare to welcome pupils for next term. Earlier today, Nicola Sturgeon announced that pupils over the age of 12 will still be required to wear a face covering when they are on the school grounds.

Secondary pupils and staff will have to take a lateral flow test before returning to the classroom and tests will then be carried out every two.
