Scots mum and son lost everything after tumble dryer sparked devastating blaze at their home

Wendy Forbes, 35, and her son Cole, 13 weren’t at their home in Fintry, Dundee at the time. Firefighters managed to rescue their dog Buddy.

Wendy said she’d cancelled their contents insurance because they were planning to move. Now, thanks to the generosity of fellow Dundonians, more than £3,000 has been raised to help them get back on their feet.

Wendy was alerted to the fire by neighbours on the morning of Friday 4 June. She said: "There literally is hardly anything left. "I have even lost precious photographs and jewellery, it has been absolutely awful. "There isn't much salvaged but we are all alive which is the main thing." Friends, family and even strangers have donated to an online fundraiser, arranged by sister Louise Craig,.
