Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning. Large parts of the country could be affected by flooding amid torrential downpours throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday.

Central and southern areas will experience the wild weather first with it spreading northwards throughout the weekend. The yellow alert came into force at 6am on Saturday and will remain in place until midnight on Sunday.A Met Office statement said: “Heavy showers and thunderstorms leading to a chance of flooding and disruption.“There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes or hail.“Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to.
