Godoy Cruz forward Santiago Garcia has died at the age 30. The Uruguayan - who was nicknamed 'Morro' - was found dead in his apartment in the city of Mendoza, as first reported by TyC Sports.
The Argentine outlet adds no one had been able to reach Garcia for a number of days despite the player being linked with a transfer to Velez Sarsfield, Estudiantes and Gimnasia The circumstances are not believed to be suspicious, while the player was reportedly being treated for depression.
Garcia - who represented Uruguay at Under-20 level - came through the ranks at Nacional in his native country and also spent time with clubs in Brazil and Turkey before joining Argentine top-flight side Godoy Cruz in 2016.
