Sam Ryder 'fell into a hedge' after electrifying Eurovision performance

Eurovision success.The British singer, 32, stunned the nation over the weekend by finishing in second place in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with his single 'Space Man'.After sweeping the jury votes, Sam finished runner-up to Ukraine after the TV votes were revealed.Appearing on The One Show on Monday (May 16), Sam was asked by presenters Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas about his feelings as the unexpected results came in.In reply, Sam said: "When the results started coming in - before that, [me and the band] were already stoked - there was nothing that we needed more."We had got everything from the experience. "We were completely fulfilled but when the first 12 points came, I fell into a hedge."Fell off the chair, just [fell.]"Sam's anecdote was met by laughter from the presenters and fellow guests Jennifer Connelly and Miles Teller, who were on the sofa to promote their forthcoming film Top Gun: Maverick.During the interview, Sam also opened up about his post-Eurovision future.He added: "I think Eurovision has been such an incredible moment in time but it's important to also realise it's a passing moment in time and romanticising it would be wrong."I'll put some new music out I suppose and just relish the moment."Sam also confirmed there 'is a tour' and an "album, maybe, who knows".Sam's victory on Saturday night marked the United Kingdom's highest Eurovision entry since Katrina and the Waves stormed to victory with Love Shine A Light in 1997.The embattled nation of Ukraine won the event with their entry Kalush Orchestra's track 'Stefania!'The One Show airs from 7pm on weeknights on BBC One.For more of the latest showbiz news from Daily Star, make sure you sign up to one of our newsletters here..
