Filmmaker Sam Raimi has finally confirmed he’s onboard to direct the upcoming sequel, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.

Marvel giveth — finally announcing that a sequel is in the works and will be "the first scary MCU film" — and Marvel taketh away: Scott Derrickson, who directed the first movie, stepped down earlier this year due to "creative differences."

American actor Bruce Campbell dropped a hint on his Twitter account about him wanting to play the villain in the highly anticipated film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The makers of the Benedict Cumberbatch starrer revealed that Sam Raimi will be directing the film. This film has seen its previous director walking out of the project. Now, that Sam Raimi has confirmed the news of him directing the film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Bruce Campbell is asking the makers to bring him on board as the villain to lock horns with lead character Doctor Strange.

The Coronavirus induced lockdown might have stopped shooting of several Marvel Studio projects. But that hasn't stopped the production house to work on pre-productions of upcoming films. Among the many movies scheduled to release in Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 4 is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Uncertainty loomed over the project after the sudden exit of Scott Derrickson. But now, it has been confirmed that Doctor Strange 2 has found a new director. Spider-Man 2's Sam Raimi will helm the Benedict Cumberbatch starrer. 

It was back in January 2020, when Scott Derrickson revealed via a tweet that he was no longer going to be directing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. "Marvel and I have mutually agreed to part ways on Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. I am thankful for our collaboration and will remain on as EP," Scott had tweeted back then. MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) fans would be aware that Scott had earlier directed Doctor Strange, which marked the entry of Benedict Cumberbatch into the MCU.

Writer of "Doctor Strange", C Robert Cargill, said that director Scott Derrickson wanted to rope in Chastain for the role of Strange's former lover Dr. Christine Palmer, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

According to hollywoodreporter.com, Derrickson is set to helm "Bermuda" for Skydance, with Evans eyed to star in the project.
